The Art of Soul editorial moves like a slow jazz set — all restraint and pocket, no rush to the downbeat. It's the mood of a Samso's studio: the room dim, the crowd leaning in, everyone waiting on the note that hasn't dropped yet. There's a syncopation to the whole thing — style landing off-beat, cool and unforced, the way a great horn player holds back before he plays. It's less about the performance and more about the silence around it — that charged pause between phrases where the music is still happening, just not out loud yet.
